International researchers have found that low back pain is by far the biggest musculoskeletal plague the world. It affects between 60 and 90% of the population one or more times in their lives. Half had hurt last year and about 40% last month. At any given time experiencing 15-20% having low back pain. This is Australia’s most expensive single disorder and the main cause of long-term brokerage and disability. Most low back pain is harmless, although they sometimes can put you out of the game and be very painful. Research done by The Chiropractic Hospital-based Interventions Research Outcomes (CHIRO) Study was recently published in the renowned journal Spine. It shows that chiropractic treatment is more effective for acute low back pain than conventional medical treatment. It is nevertheless important that the patient take early contact with their chiropractor to examine the extent of the problem and implement the correct chiropractic techniques. If you go too long lockups in spinal and low back pain may increase the risk of symptoms worsening and it develops a slipped disc. One should also be aware that low back pain can come from pelvic lockups, where many of the symptoms are similar, but the cause of the problem then lies elsewhere than in the lumbar.
