Middle Back

Middle back pain occurs below the neck and above the bottom of the rib cage, in an area called the thoracic spine. This type of pain in the middle back between the shoulder blades affects people of any age, for different reasons. Perhaps not so surprising when we think of all office work done at a rapid pace with rounded shoulders, forward head bowed and arms tense. Chest Back pain often spreads up to the neck into the shoulders and arms or until chest. There are a number of ways the bones, muscles, ligaments, and disks in the spine can irritate or injure the nerves, causing back pain. Some possible causes can be poor posture, obesity, muscle sprain or strain, injury, herniated disc, Osteoarthritis and ageing. A lack of exercise can lead to weak muscles, which can contribute to pain. The main symptom of back pain is an ache or pain anywhere in the back, and sometimes all the way down to the buttocks and legs. Some of the most common symptoms of mid back pain include:
  • muscle aches
  • dull pain
  • a burning sensation
  • sharp or stabbing pain
  • muscle tightness or stiffness
